The Atlanta Kookaburras Australian Rules Football team began in 1998 in the back lots of Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, Georgia.

Our club also supports, local co-ed non tackle social games played all year round called AFLS, visit www.aflsocial.com, junior development and 3 Atlanta based teams (East Atlanta, Mid-Town, and Northside) with games through the Atlanta summer.

From April-October the local teams form the Kookaburras, Atlanta’s representative team. During this time, the Kookaburras play against a variety of teams in the South Eastern United States. Aussie rules football is a fast paced, exciting, high scoring team sport that entertains fans all over Australia. The game is typically played on an oval field 170 meters in diameter and games last over an hour.

The Kookaburra men's amd women's particpate in the USAFL National Championships in October and have won three Women's National Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and Runners up in 2008. The men's team have been runners up at the National Championships twice, in 2001 and 2011.

Footy in Atlanta is a chance for Australian and American cultures to join together; a chance for mates to kick the 'footy', blow off some steam and socialize. We are a not-for-profit (501(c) (3)) organization dedicated to the development and promotion of Australian culture through amateur sports and education in the greater Atlanta area.
