The Atlanta Kookaburras were very pleased to award long time player, coach and club legend Brent Bacon a Life Membership Award at the recent Baton Rouge away game. Brent first played for the Kookaburras in 2002 and has played 60 games and kicked 85 goals, leading Goalkicker for the Kookas, has also been Head Coach, Asst Coach & Captain as well as strategic club leader during different times for past 15 years. Brent was also an important component in bringing and organizing the very successful 2004 USAFL National Championships in Cumming GA, north of Atlanta.
After moving from Chicago having also being a great part of the Chicago Swans there, Brent wasted no time in making the Atlanta Kookaburras successful as well. Brent currently is just concluding two years again as Head Coach, stepping up after a request and like a true Kookaburra came out of a mini playing retirement to take the field in Baton Rouge the other week as the team was short on numbers. This sort of selfless act is what long time members and now new members of the Atlanta Kookaburras have seen and will always admire.
Brent was also named Club Captain earlier this year of the 20 Year Kookaburras Team of Champions at the Clubs 20 year anniversary celebrations.
From everyone here at the Atlanta Kookaburras past and present congratulations Brent "Pig" Bacon on becoming just the 6th Life Member of the Atlanta Kookaburras.
