The Atlanta Kookaburras Australian Rules Football team began in 1998 in the back lots of Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, Georgia.

It has continued through to today, playing what some consider to be the greatest game on the planet.

Our club supports , local co-ed games, junior development and 3 teams (Roswell, Mid-Town, and Western) with Atlanta competitions from March-May.

From June-October the local teams come together to form the Kookaburras, Atlanta’s representative team. During this time, the Kookaburras play against a variety of teams in the South Eastern United States.Aussie rules football is a fast paced, exciting, high scoring team sport that entertains fans all over Australia. It is also the fastest growing team sport here in the US With over 40 men’s teams and 10 women’s’ teams spread out all over North America.

The Atlanta Kookaburras regularly play teams from Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, and Kentucky. Australian Rules football, known as AFL is a Aussie sport that very few Americans have seen only television. Footy is a game we play for fun and fitness, yet take very seriously. The game is typically played on an oval field 170 meters in diameter and games last over an hour.

The Kookaburra men's amd women's particpate in the USAFL National Championships in October and have won three Women's National Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and Runners up in 2008.

Footy in Atlanta is a chance for Australian and American cultures to join together; a chance for mates to kick the 'footy', blow off some steam and socialize. We are a not-for-profit (501(c) (3)) organization dedicated to the development and promotion of Australian culture through amateur sports and education in the greater Atlanta area.
